Kindred Soul

Sometimes a kindred soul we find

at just the perfect time

Someone who helps to fill a void 

our wounds, they help us bind...

A rescue from a sinking ship

sometimes we just exist

They help us find what we had lost 

what we so long have missed...

A rain that falls upon the ground

so parched and cracked by drought

Our hearts begin to feel again

a flower starts to sprout...

The unexpected miracle

we thought we'd never see

The answer to a thousand prayers 

we whispered silently...

 It's been a long and lonely year

I've made it through somehow

When times were tough, I heard your voice

Just like I hear it now...

So many struggles every day

a captive in my home

Wearing masks to keep me safe

inside this twilight zone...

You always have a special way

to let me know you're close

Whenever I am faltering

and when I need you most...

Hands of Time

So many chapters in the book

a span of many years

Some brought joy and happiness

and others, stained with tears...

The hands of time turned every page

and closed the chapters too

One by one, I walked them out

but not the one with you...

The shortest chapter was the best

and loved it so much more

When you reached out to me that day

the hands had closed the door...

Somber faces telling us 

a thousand more have died...
