Hurricane Michael

So much was lost in just a day
the storm that changed our lives
We never thought this day would come
somehow our town survives...

Gone are all the lights and trees
debris is everywhere
What's left is now a sorted heap
we sift through what's still there...

We're going to make it all come back
the promise we all say
How do we heal the troubled minds
that can't get past that day?...

Home Town

I'm back to where it all began
but all my friends aren't here
How the memories come to me
they all now gather near...

We always said we'd come back home
I waited far too long
The old home town looks much the same
but something's very wrong...

So many faces I don't know
they give a passing glance
I search each one in hopes I'll find
a kindred soul by chance...

I still can hear the music play
the parties at the lake
The many times we gathered there
the friendships we would make...

Fate

I still remember what you said
so many years ago
Had fate just waited one more day
a shame we'll never know...

Sometimes a memory comes to me
and tears begin to fall
Oh the many times I've sighed
we could have had it all...

Every time I reached for you
the timing wasn't right
And when at last you called for me
our chance was gone that night...

I hope one day you'll read these words
and know just how I feel
A lifetime knowing I was wrong
a heart that still can't heal...
