The Walls

The walls...the walls...they're closing in

they whisper and they nod

Every day they close some more

where are you now my God?

I'm all alone inside this place

where fear and hope collide

I'm not so sure I'll make it out

my faith is surely tried...

My eyes are fixed upon the storm

but deep inside my heart

I hear a voice that speaks to me

"I've been here from the start"...

"The lightening soon will disappear

the winds will cease to blow

Fear will lose its grip on you

and victory you will know"...

Slumber's fighting hard today

to keep me in its power

I've gotta hurry off to work

to be there in an hour...

Emerging thoughts begin to form

temptations now begin

"You should pick up the telephone 

and say you won't be in...

A man can only take so much

resistance just won't do

Dear Boss, I'm not my self today

you know I'm sickly too...

Having now secured my leave

it's back to bed I go

Drifting off to pleasant dreams

a smile and afterglow...
