The Hurricane

Profoundly shaken by the storm

that struck, and then moved on

Every day I sift some more

but everything is gone...

There's nothing I can ever see

to make me smile again

The beauty that I once beheld

and all that could have been...

The flowers that I brought to you

the joy it gave to me

Were tossed away into the wind

a broken heart and key...

Memories

Oh to pull them by the roots

and cast them far away

Nevermore to trouble me

oh, how they fight to stay...

Wrongs that never were made right

and healing much delayed

Sharpened by the hands of time

they're now a cutting blade...

Reparations will not heal

the wounds within the heart

Words are simply not enough

to mend what tore apart...

What can I do to make amends?

I've nothing left to give

From deep within my heart and soul
