So Beautiful

So many years have passed us now

I still remember you

The way you used to smile at me

and how you kissed me too...

When last we met, I was so young

incredibly naive

I never thought you'd really go

that you would ever leave...

I had to learn to find a way

to heal and then move on

To close the chapter in the book

and start another one...

Imagine my surprise today

a Facebook photograph

An avalanche of memories

and some that made me laugh...

You look so very happy now

the heartstrings start to pull

The smile that I remember well

and still so beautiful...

Here I am again my God

I humbly call to you

Forgive me please of all my sin

and wash me through and through...

You are the life within my soul

the treasure in my heart

The King of all the universe

you loved me from the start...

I bow before your holiness

and wait to hear your voice

Reveal to me your perfect will

and what should be my choice...

The Word

Oh the power of the word

a sword that cuts within

Exposing my humanity

convicting me of sin...

The light that shines on every man

reveals the heart of God

The gospel that transforms the soul

and saves the weak and flawed...

The key that opens prison doors

and sets the captive free

The truth that gives me perfect peace

and speaks so clear to me..

I have a friend who loves me so

and now we both agree

I once was lost but now I'm found

was blind but now I see...

The Poet

The poet reaches for a pen

his broken heart to bare

To write the words he cannot speak

his deepest thoughts to share...

A well that springs from deep within

cannot be now contained

Emotions trapped for many years

run free and unrestrained...

A teardrop falls upon the page

the ink begins to smear

An avalanche of pouring rain

the words soon disappear...

A Peace

Sometimes I sense when you are close

a peace comes over me

A comfort that I can't explain

a face I cannot see...

Real

Be true my friend to those you love

they need you more each day

Storms will come and gather round

to take them far away...

Keep them covered up in prayer

and show them how you feel

When trouble flares they'll come to you

because they know you're real...

Soar

Close your eyes and drift away

allow yourself to fly

Leave your troubles far behind

and soar into the sky...

Loose the bands that hold you tight

and go where you will thrive

Learn to live and laugh again

enjoy to be alive...

Don't look back from where you came

there's nothing there for you

Focus on your hopes and dreams

your heart will see you through...

Clouds

Another anxious day for me

she slowly slips away

Clouds that formed within her mind

grow darker by the day...

It's hard to smile and not break down

she doesn't know my name

So angry and in deep despair

I don't know who to blame...

I wish that I could speak with her

just like I did for years

But lately all I do is cry

my pillow's full of tears...

Tomorrow will be Mother's Day

I'll sit and hold her hands

Will tell her that I cherish her

and hope she understands...

I've come so far from where I was

the journey of my soul

Lessons learned along life's path

the hard ones took their toll...

I'm not the same as I once was

much better than before

I see the world much clearer now

my heart feels so much more...

My Friend

Can you hear my voice dear friend?

I thought of you today

A memory from another time

that chose to come my way...

Reminding me of who you are

and what you mean to me

The many times you felt my pain

and how you helped me see...

I wanted you to know my friend

you're cherished in my heart

I wish that I could be with you

and not so far apart...
